Call for Book Chapters to be published by Springer in the International Research Fuzzy Management Methods - Book Series by Springer.  

Title: Applying Fuzzy Logic for the Digital Economy and Society

Editors: Andreas Meier, Edy Portmann and Luis Terán, University of Fribourg/Switzerland

In the age of Big Data, decision making processes for economy and society have to deal with uncertainty, vagueness, and imprecision. Besides Volume, Variety and Velocity, two others V’s for Veracity and Value have also to be taken into consideration. Therefore, the application of fuzzy sets and fuzzy logic becomes a hot topic.
In 2008, the Department for Informatics at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland founded its Research Center for Fuzzy Management Methods, called FMsquare. Later on, the International Research Book Series for FMsquare was launched by Springer, where researchers published in fuzzy-based reputation management, fuzzy classification of online customers, inductive fuzzy classification for marketing analytics, fuzzy data warehousing for performance measurement, using intuitionistic fuzzy sets for service level engineering, building a knowledge carrier based on granular computing, or a fuzzy-based recommender system for political communities, among others.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of FMsquare in 2018, international researchers are kindly invited to submit a book chapter of around 20 pages for the following topics:

  • Fuzzy-based portfolio management
  • Web analytics with fuzzy measures
  • Community marketing with fuzzy approaches
  • Fuzzy-based customer equity
  • Business process modelling with words
  • Data mining with fuzzy reasoning
  • Fuzzy cognitive maps for knowledge management
  • Political partizipation and fuzzy voting
  • Fuzzy-based stakeholder management
  • Sense-making with vague data
  • and related topics  

 The book will present state-of-the art methods, case studies, and web-based sevices for a digital economy and society. The target audience are researchers, practitioners, project leaders, politicians and managers who like to apply or improve fuzzy-based skills.

Chapter Proposal and Submission

Interested researchers are invited to submit a brief summary of their proposal including: 

  • Tentative title of the chapter
  • List of authors with affiliation
  • Short abstract
  • Table of content
  • Short list of literature

The chapter proposal should be submitted to, and not later than December 31, 20017. The editors of the book will inform the authors about their proposal mid of January, 2018. After acceptance, the chapters have to be submitted till 31st March, 2018. After a review, the final chapters should be submitted by end of May, 2018. The book will be published in August 2018 by Springer, Heidelberg.

Important Dates

  • Chapter proposal (1 to 2 page) submission by December 31st, 2017
  • Notification of acceptance by January 15th, 2018
  • Full chapter (15 to 20 pages) submission by March 31st, 2018
  • Review results returned by April 30th, 2018
  • Final chapter submission by May 31st, 2018
  • Final notification of acceptance by June 15th, 2018
  • Publication of the book by Springer in August 2018
